Essential Car Accessories

Essential Car Accessories for Australians

How much time do you spend in your car every week? For many of you, the answer is “a lot”.  Australians spend an average of 40 minutes per day, driving to and from work.  When you add in errands and long-distance driving, that is a lot of time behind the wheel.

Personalizing your car to make it more comfortable and safer goes a long way to make long drives and rush hour traffic more bearable.

These are some of the essential accessories you should have in your car.

Dash Cam – A dashboard camera is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity.  A dash cam will give you evidence of any road incidents and help expedite any insurance claims process.

Sun Shades– Custom-fitted shade for car window which block damaging UV radiation and debilitating heat can help preserve your car’s interior, as well as make it more comfortable while driving.

Portable Power Station– If you’re headed out on long road trips, equipping your car with a portable power station should be on your list. They can charge your cell phones and computers and can be a vital piece of security equipment.

Tool Kit – Even simple tools can go a long way in an emergency. Whether you’re fixing your own vehicle or lending a hand to a fellow traveller, a well-stocked tool kit is essential.

Interior Cleaning Kit– Keeping your vehicle clean goes a long way towards maintaining its value. A clean car will go a lot further on the secondary market when it comes time to sell your vehicle.

Portable Tyre Pump– Stashing a portable tyre pump in your boot is a great way to be prepared for a flat tyre.   Whether you’re on the main road or off-roading, there are any number of hazards or debris that can cause a puncture.

GPS Tracker – Track down your car if it is ever lost or stolen. If you’re broken down on the side of the road, you can share your location with friends or family to either come and get you or arrange for roadside assistance. These also let you keep track of your keys, which for some people have a habit of getting lost.

Portable Jump Start – If you’ve ever dealt with a dead battery you know how handy this can be. Trying to find someone to give you a jump start and then arranging your car so your cable reach can be a hassle. With a portable jump starter, you won’t have to rely on a passer-by for assistance. You can jump-start your car with ease and make it to a local battery shop or repair facility.

First Aid Kit – Having a compliant first aid kit, can be the difference between life and death.  A comprehensive vehicle safety kit could be the most important car accessory you own.   Your kit should have gloves, antiseptic, bandages and gauze, pain relievers, a flashlight, and everything you would need to deal with a medical emergency while on the road.

These accessories will keep you safer and more secure in your driving around Australia.
