How to Wash Off Mineral Sunscreen for Kids After a Day Out

How to Wash Off Mineral Sunscreen for Kids After a Day Out

Families go to the beach all the time, with the time-honored practice of applying mineral sunscreen for kids being a central part of the process. Getting it applied in the first place is a job in itself, with the usual wriggling and giggling often getting in the way of putting on an even coat of the stuff on your child’s skin.

However, that’s not the only issue, as there’s also the job of getting it off again at the end of the day. Any parents who’ve tried to do so will tell you that it can be a tough job. Mineral sunscreen has a thick texture that’s designed to stick to the skin, making it quite stubborn.

Getting Mineral Sunscreen For Kids Off The Skin

These often difficult-to-remove products require certain products to be used in order to break down their consistency. Now we look at the practicalities behind how it can be done with the least amount of stress and aggravation to your little one.

Step #1 – Use Skin Cleanser For the First Time

Your job is to loosen the bonds that your mineral sunscreen has made on your child’s skin, meaning that a cleanse is required. So, the first job is to apply that cleanser and start the process. The zinc oxide inside is then surrounded and by applying it with a circular motion, you’ll help to reduce the strength of its grip on the skin’s surface.

It’s important that you’re nice and gentle during the application, so it’s best to start lifting off mineral sunscreen for kids with a cotton pad or soft cloth. This step will not remove everything on your child’s skin, but it will make the second application more effective.

Step #2 – A Second Application of Skin Cleanser

After step one, you should rinse and then move on to step two. You should find that there’s much less oil and product on the skin, meaning that you’re getting there! A second application will usually be enough to remove what’s left behind.

Again, it’s important to remain gentle so as not to irritate or aggravate the skin, so repeat the slow and deliberate action from step 1.

It’s Essential to Wash Off Mineral Sunscreen For Kids

There may be some of you saying that it doesn’t really matter if sunscreen is washed off or not. And while leaving it on isn’t necessarily going to hurt your kids, it’s not going to do them any good either.

Should you choose to skip these cleansing steps, there’s a good chance that your child’s skin will experience clogged pores. This leads to comedones, which are basically blackheads and whiteheads, which is the last thing either you or they want.

So, as tired as you might be after a long day out, it really isn’t the done thing to leave it in place. Your kids will have enough to deal with in terms of spots and breakouts when they hit their teens, so you don’t want them having to cope with zits caused by sunscreen before then.

It takes 5 minutes and makes all the difference, so don’t skip it!
