A Beginner’s Guide to Taking Part in Trade Fairs in Thailand

There is a mix of businesses, organisations, and individuals that can play the role of exhibitors at trade fairs. For as long as you can keep it relevant to the theme or industry of the fair, there will be a great opportunity for you to get a huge following.

The nature of trade fairs in Thailand can be comparative to international trade shows. However, what makes them unique is the business culture and regional focus of Thailand.

Organising the Event

Government agencies are usually responsible for conducting trade fairs. But they can also be organised by private exhibition companies or industry associations. They are also held in well-equipped venues, especially when handling major trade fairs.

Registration and Participation

If you are an exhibitor, you need to book booth spaces where you will be able to showcase your products or services. Booths can vary from basic configurations to intricate bespoke designs. But this will depend mainly on the budget and goals of the exhibitor.

You can register online or on-site. Thus, it can attract many participants, particularly industry professionals, buyers and suppliers, government officials, and the general public.

Trade Fair Structure

You can either pick the business-to-business days or the business-to-consumer days. The business-to-business days are reserved for professionals where exhibitors and buyers are able to network, negotiate, and make deals. At some point, there are matchmaking services that will connect exhibitors with potential partners or clients.

The business-to-consumer days are open to the public. They are often held during the last one to two days of the event. This is when visitors can buy products at promotional prices.

Activities for Exhibitors

If you are an exhibitor, you will be able to showcase products or services and make live demonstrations. There are also networking events in which you can participate to connect with industry players. Attendees will also be able to participate in hands-on sessions via workshops and trainings.

Language and Communication

International trade fairs use the English language as the common medium for communication. However, you may also have materials and staff who can speak Thai if you want to make a connection with local participants.

Essential Tips for Exhibitors

If you are planning to make an exhibit of your business, you may consult Thailand Exhibition to help you get started. But you have to do it early because booth spaces can fill up fast, especially for popular fairs. Likewise, you need to be aware of Thai culture. Therefore, you need to know that they value politeness and respect. That said, a friendly and professional approach works best. On top of that, you have to draw visitors to your products or services. You can do this by offering samples, demonstrations, or promotional materials.

Most manufacturers and producers would showcase their products or innovations. On the other hand, service providers will offer their services like IT solutions, logistics, marketing, or consultancy to potential customers or partners. But there are also retailers and distributors who are looking to establish supply chains or connect with buyers or wholesalers during this event.
