The radio station hired him full-time the following year, and he stopped attending college. Years later, while working at the radio station, he was promoted to supervisor of announcers.

Adrianne Joy’s Husband’s Music Career
The Big Bopper started his music career by songwriting, writing Running Bear for Johnny Preston, a song released after Adrianne Joy’s husband’s death.
Mercury and Starday Records signed Jiles Perry Richardson Jr., and he was able to release his first song, Beggar to a King, but the song did not do well. He also sang Chantilly Lace as The Big Bopper, and it managed to reach number six on pop charts.
Adrianne Joy’s husband released a song titled The Big Bopper’s Wedding, and in the song, he pretended to get cold feet at the altar.
Death of Her Husband
Buddy Holly had chartered an airplane to fly himself, Waylon Jennings, and Tommy Allsup to Minnesota. Roger Peterson, a pilot, had been working for over 15 hours but agreed to take them on their tour.
The Big Bopper had flu, and Waylon Jennings offered his seat on the plane since Allsup had already lost his seat to Valens after flipping a coin. Since Waylon, Allsup, and others were to use a bus, Buddy Molly jokingly said that he hoped they would freeze on the bus as it was too cold. On the hand, Waylon Jennings replied that he hoped the plane would crash.
After finishing their show at Clear Lake at midnight, they went to the airport and boarded their plane. The pilot received clearance to fly, and after takeoff, the plane crashed just a few miles from the Mason City Airport. Everyone died, including Adrianne Joy Fryou’s husband.
