Georgiann Brady McRaven is the wife of retired United States Navy four-star admiral William H. McRaven. Georgeann’s husband served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) from August 2011 to August 2014.
McRaven oversaw the special operations capture of the notorious Saddam Hussein and the raid of Osama bin Laden. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2014 after over 37 years of service. He then served as the chancellor of The University of Texas System from 2015 to 2018.

Georgeann was born in May 1957 and is 65 years old as of 2022. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Georgeann is best known as the wife of William McRaven. The couple met at The University of Texas at Austin, where Georgiann was an accounting major. For nearly four decades, Georgiann played the critical role of a military spouse.
The duo has three children, one of whom is John Emory McRaven. Emory leads a development team in New York for Palantir Technologies. He is married to Kelly Anne McKenna. Georgiann’s other two children have been kept from the limelight, and there is no information regarding their life.

William Harry McRaven was born on 6 November 1955 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. His father was a career Force officer stationed at Pope Air Force Base. His mother is Anna Elizabeth. McRaven has two older sisters, and they all moved to Texas while he was in elementary school. McRaven attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and took part in the track. He attended the University of Texas, where he met his wife, Georgeanne. While in college, he was a walk-on member of the track team and the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps.
After graduating in 1977, McRaven was commissioned as an officer in U.S. Navy, where he volunteered for Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training (BUD/S). He graduated with BUD/S class 95 in January 1978 and was entitled to wear the Special Warfare Insignia. He was deployed to the Philippines in 1979 and 1981. He got fired aged 27 by Richard Marcinko and transferred to another SEAL team.
He would serve as a staff officer with an interagency coordination focus and as deputy to General Stanley A. McChrystal. He later led a successful battle group that targeted Al Qaeda in Iraq. President Barak Obama nominated him for promotion from vice admiral to admiral rank. He also became the ninth commander of USSOCOM. He retired from the military after a 37-year career on 1 September 2014.
McRaven was selected as the chancellor of the University of Texas System in July 2014. He stepped down from the role in May 2018. In 2022, McRaven became a board member of Palantir Technologies.
