Lisa Leslie was born on 7 July 1972, in Compton, California. Her father, Walter Leslie, is a former professional basketball player, and her mother, Christian Lauren, stood 6 feet 3 inches (1.91). Leslie stands 6 feet 5 inches (1.96). When her mother was pregnant, her father left the family, and she started a truck driving business to support her four children. Leslie’s siblings are Dionne, Tiffany, and Elgin.
Leslie started playing basketball in middle school. At 14, before she joined high school, Leslie had received over a hundred college recruiting letters due to her prowess in balling. She enrolled in Morningside High School in 1986, where she joined the basketball and volleyball teams and competed in track and field. She joined the University of Southern California, a women’s basketball powerhouse, from 1990 to 1994, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications. While in college, Leslie played 120 games and set the Pac-10 Conference records for scoring, blocked shots, and rebounding. Leslie played in the Women’s National Basketball Association and is a three-time MVP. She’s also a four-time Olympic gold medal winner and a two-time FIBA World Championships winner. Leslie was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. She is a realtor and co-founder of Aston Rose, a sports and entertainment real-estate firm.
