Longevity of Microblading

Understanding the Longevity of Microblading: How Long Does it Last?

A well-structured, full, and perfectly arched eyebrow enhances the beautiful features of one’s face. To achieve this beautiful look, many people spend quality time shaping and contouring their eyebrows. Unfortunately, no matter how many hours you spend crafting your eyebrow, the result is only temporary. You will likely have to go through the entire process from scratch each time you are heading out. As such, a lot of people are now looking for a more permanent approach.

This is where microblading comes in; it is a semi-permanent eyebrow makeup procedure. It’s also referred to as eyebrow embroidery, and it is a very effective and time-efficient way to have natural-looking and perfectly structured eyebrows. This semi-permanent cosmetic procedure can last for up to 3 years if done expertly and maintained properly. It’s therefore important to visit reputable eyebrow services experts to get quality, detailed, and long-lasting eyebrows. When looking for microblading services, make sure to look at the testimonies of previous customers to have a clear knowledge of how long the effect of the procedure lasted.

Aside from the expertise and technicality of the professional performing the procedure, other factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare also contribute to the longevity of this cosmetic procedure. Let’s take a closer look at these factors.

Factors That Influence The Longevity Of Microblading

Skin Type

Whether you have oily skin, dry skin, or combination skin, you can get your eyebrows worked on. Basically, it is compatible with all skin types, but longevity varies based on the skin type. The amount of oil in the skin is the major factor that causes this longevity variation. For normal skin types containing regular amounts of oil, it can last for 12 to 18 months. On the other hand, it lasts less than 12 months on oily skin.

Furthermore, individuals with dry skin have the longest-lasting eyebrows due to the reduced oil production of their skin. Doing it on dry skin lasts between 18 to 30 months, while the longevity on combination skin varies depending on the skin type in the forehead and eyebrow areas.

Aftercare Practice

As with any cosmetic procedure, healing and aftercare practices can significantly impact the final look and the longevity of the eyebrows. In other words, if you take some time to care for your eyebrows, you’ll enjoy lasting eyebrows. Simple aftercare practices like applying the prescribed ointment and regular cleansing will help reduce the oil in the eyebrow area worked on.

Also, drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Dehydrated skin can cause sebum production, which will interfere with the pigment used for the procedure. Additionally, avoid using skincare products containing retinol, AHAs, and other content that can reduce the intensity of the pigment

Sun Exposure

The UV rays from the sun cause the pigment to break down and fade over time. Also, the sun slows down the healing process of the eyebrows area worked on. It’s, therefore, advisable to keep your sunglasses handy to shield your eyebrows when you’re out under the sun. This is particularly important in the first few weeks after undergoing your procedure.

Lifestyle Habits

Certain lifestyle habits can also cause the pigment to fade faster as well as slow down the healing process. For example, regular exercises and active lifestyles cause more secretion of sweat, which in turn leads to faster fading of the pigment. Also, swimming or bathing with salt water or chlorinated water can lead to reduced longevity. Salt body scrub and other exfoliants also contribute to reduced longevity.

Furthermore, if you have a habit of consuming caffeine and alcohol, your eyebrows will heal slowly hence, reducing the quality of the pigment.

Quality of Pigment

Generally, higher-quality pigments tend to last longer than lower-quality ones. High-quality pigments are made of more stable and durable ingredients; hence, they last longer. One major way to distinguish between high-quality and low-quality pigments is the price of the services. However, please don’t choose an expert solely because of their expensive services; make sure to check the reviews and reputation of the expert before making a final decision.

The Skill of the Technician

The right techniques, high-quality tools, and expertise play a significant role in ensuring that the eyebrows last long. This is why it’s always best to get the work done by a seasoned professional. These experts understand how to correctly use the tools and how to draw the right contours and arches. Also, skilled technicians take into account the client’s skin type, lifestyle habits, and desired look to create a customized treatment plan that will yield the best long-lasting results. They’ll also enlighten you about the best care tips to maintain your eyebrow.

Finally, adequate and routine pigment touch up increases the longevity of the eyebrow. Also, endeavor to touch up your eyebrows at least once or twice a year, depending on your skin type.
