Yusef Rasheed was the first husband of Oracene Price, an American tennis coach and philanthropist. Oracene is better known as the mother of American tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams. Yusef was born in 1952, but his exact date of birth is unknown. Besides, little is known about his parents or siblings. Yusef’s family believed in Christian values, but not much can be said about Yusef’s religious beliefs.
Marriage
Yusef and Oracene met for the first time at a party in the early 1970s; they seemed to be drawn to each other and soon were in a romantic relationship. It did not take long before Oracene became pregnant with their first child. Yusef and his wife were together until he died in 1979.
During their time together, the couple was blessed with three beautiful children: Lyndrea, Yetunde, and Isha Price. The couple was happily married; they did not have any issues between them it was just sad that Yusef Rasheed died when he had just started his new life with his wife and three beautiful daughters.
His Death
Yusef died in 1979 at a young age; at the time, her firstborn child, Yetunde, was barely eight years old. Before his death, Yusef had not shown any signs of sickness; he was in perfect health, and it was such a shock to his family when he died of a sudden heart stroke. His family was devasted, especially his children; Yetunde at least knew what was going on, and it was clear that she would never see her father again.
Yusef’s death was such a loss to his family, but they had to move on with their lives. Yusef Rasheed was only 27 years old at the time of his death.
Life After His Death
After Yusef Rasheed died, life was not easy for Oracene and their three daughters. They often struggled with finances, but Oracene tried as much as possible to be able to provide for her daughters. Soon after Yusef’s death, Oracene met Richard Williams; the two did not date for long before finally tying the knot in 1980.
Oracene and Richard Williams worked together on various issues, including coaching; they supported each other, and they were able to build their empire. Besides this came along with their beautiful daughters Serena and Venus Williams, who have always hit the headlines due to their excellent performances.
His Daughter Yetunde
Yusef’s daughter Yetunde was a practicing nurse and personal assistant of the Williams sisters, who was murdered as a result of a drive-by shooting. Her name resurfaced on the internet on September 14, 2003, after becoming a victim of gang rivalries. On the fateful night of her murder, she was having a good time with her boyfriend in her SUV.
The vehicle was parked outside a crack house, and this got the attention of two gang members who were guarding the house; the two believed the SUV belonged to another street gang; they opened fire, and Yusef’s daughter was caught at the center of it. Yetunde’s boyfriend did not know if she had been shot, but soon after realizing it, he rushed her to receive emergency services, but it was too late for her. She died aged 31 years old.
