Who is Lizzie Seliger?

Lizzie Seliger, born Elizabeth Seliger Asner, was the mother of a seven times Emmy Awards Ed Asner. Lizzie was born in 1885 in Russia and died on January 16, 1967. Lizzie Seliger was visiting her daughter Esther Edelman when she died. The celebrity mother was buried in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, USA, in the presence of her family.

Lizzie Seliger was born in Russia in 1885 but moved to the USA in 1912. Since she arrived in the United States, she has lived in Kansas City. Lizzie was married to Morris Asner, who owned Asner Iron & Metal Company in Kansas City, and they shared five children, Edward Asner, an actor being one of them.

What is Lizzie Seliger Known For?

Lizzie Seliger was the mother of the late actor Ed Asner. Eddie Asner was born on November 15, 1929, and was an American actor who made a name for himself as a talented actor, winning seven Emmy Awards.

Eddie Asner was an actor and the president of the Screen Actors Guild, and his appearances in the 1980s and 1970s in various films like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant.

Eddie Asner was born in Kansas City, where he grew up. His mother was a housewife, and Eddie was the last of the five children in his family. All siblings of Eddie died, and he was the last surviving member.

Eddie Asner’s Education and Early Life

Asner went to Wyandotte High school in Kansas City and later joined the University of Chicago. The actor first joined the University to study journalism, until he met a lecturer who advised him that journalists paid little money.

Quickly, Asner changed his career and started doing drama. In drama, he started acting in a school production of T.S Elliot’s Murder in the Cathedral.

Asner started losing interest in studying and dropped out of school to work as a taxi driver. The actor worked with General Motors as a taxi driver for a while and did other odd jobs before he was drafted into the military in 1951.

The Career of Eddie Asner

Eddie Asner served in the army from 1951 to 1953. During his time in the army, he appeared in Plays that toured the Army bases in Europe. Due to wonderful Military service, Asner was among the founders of the Playwrights Theatre Company in Chicago, but h left the group for New York City. The group was later renamed Compass Players.

Eddie Asner was a talented actor and featured in several films and television series, which enabled him to win seven Emmy Awards.

Personal Life of Lizzie Seliger’s Son

Asner married from 1959 to 1989 Nancy Lou Sykes, and they had three children. In 1987, he had a relationship with Jean Vogelman, giving birth to a child named Charles. Asner was a parent and grandparent to autistic children, which empowered him to involve himself in a nonprofit organization for autism.

Asner was later married to producer Cindy Gilmore in 1998, and he died on august 29, 2021, due to natural causes.
