Osama bin Laden was a terrorist who made headlines for carrying out numerous terrorist activities, including in the United States. He is one of the most famous Al Qaeda leaders, up to this date. While Osama was executed years back, after a serious hunt by the United States forces, his family has remained in the limelight.
Amal al-Sadah was Osama’s youngest wife, and she made headlines after reports indicated that she had been shot in the leg while the police were hunting Osama bin Laden. Osama had requested his wives to return to their homes after he knew he was sought after, but Amal, promised to stay by his side, until his death.
Amal even revealed to her father that he loved Osama, whom she said was treating her well. Despite the criminal activities, Amal was serious about staying by his side, and even dying by his side.
Engagement to Osama bin Laden
Amal’s journey to fame happened in 1999 after a message reached her home that Osama wanted her hand in marriage. She was a high school dropout, but she was determined and eager to do something that would afford her a luxurious life.
Amal had always told her family and friends that she wanted to go down in history, and it happened when she accepted to marry Osama. Her older sister’s husband came to her uncle’s home with a proposal to marry Osama, and her uncle did not force her.
Her sister Farah’s husband was a friend of Osama, and he brought the news of his intentions to marry a third wife. Amal’s uncle informed her that Osama was a modern and respectable who came from a modern family in Saudi, but she left the decision to marry him to her because he did not know him personally.
Amal’s uncle was not aware that Osama was being sought for the 1998 bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Amal replied that marrying Osama was destiny from God and she was ready to do it.
The marriage was arranged like many Muslim families, and Osama paid $5,000 to the bride’s family, upon which a marriage contract was signed.
Life After Marriage
After Amal married Osama, she reduced communication with her family. She would communicate through courier at limited times due to security concerns, but that did not change any feelings for her family. She welcomed one daughter, Safiya who was arrested alongside her during Osama’s manhunt.
Amal’s Husband’s Death
Osama bin Laden, Amal’s husband was killed in 2011 by the US Seals. Amal who revealed later in an interview, said that someone close to Osama had betrayed them. They had hid in the caves for six years and were found in 2011, upon which Osama was shot.
Amal tried to rush the Seals, but they shot her in the leg, and she fell and passed out. When she woke up, Osama had been killed, alongside one of their sons.
