About him

Andre Oher was born and brought up in Memphis, Tennessee. He was one of Denise Oher’s 12 children. Michael Jerome Oher Jr. is one of his brothers. In the 2009 NFL Draft, the Ravens chose him in the first round after he played college football at Mississippi, where he was named a unanimous All-American. Along with the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans, he also played for them.

In Michael Lewis’ 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game and the Academy Award-winning 2009 film The Blind Side, Michael Oher Jr.’s life between his senior year of high school and first year of college is one of the topics.

In his first year of high school, Michael Oher Jr. participated in football at a Memphis public high school. On the advice of Tony Henderson, an auto technician with whom he was staying temporarily, he submitted an application for admission to Briarcrest Christian School.

Family

His father, Michael Jerome Williams, was regularly incarcerated, but before that he was a businessman. Later on, by trade, he went to prison. While Ander Oher’s mother struggled with alcoholism and a crack cocaine addiction, Ander Oher was not well-cared for or disciplined as a youngster.

During his first nine years of school, his brother, Michael Jerome Oher Jr., attended eleven different schools and repeated the first and second grades. At the age of seven, Ander Oher and his siblings were placed in foster care. They cycled between being in different foster families and experiencing homelessness. Oher’s father was murdered in jail while he was a senior in high school. He had previously shared a cell with Denise Oher’s brother.

Ander Oher is Christian by religion. When Ander Oher was a teenager, he was adopted by a family. One of his biological brothers, among 12 of them, named Marcus Oher, is a renowned American football player as well. Carlos Oher, another brother of Ander Oher, was an accomplished and famous former American football offensive lineman who spent most of his career with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens (NFL).

Michael Oher Jr., the brother of Ander Oher, likewise stated on January 14 that he would be participating in the 2008 NFL Draft. Two days later, he revealed that he was leaving the draught in order to play his final year at Ole Miss. Michael Jerome Oher Jr. made the honour roll twice (the first time was during his sophomore year) and was named to the first team of All-Americans during the 2008 campaign. He earned his criminal justice degree in the spring of 2009 and graduated the following spring.
