Taliesin Woodward is also in the news industry, which initially she thought she would never enter into. Now she not only writes but also teaches journalism. Taliesin Woodward’s Family
Taliesin Woodward was born on 10th, November 1976 to Bob Woodward and his second wife, Frances Kuper. Taliesin’s father Robert Upshur Woodward aka Bob Woodward is a prominent journalist who was born on March 26, 1943. He began to work for The Washington Post in 1971 as a reporter and is currently an assistant editor. He was born to Jane and Alfred E. Woodward, a lawyer who subsequently rose to the position of chief judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court. Bob was brought up by his father who divorced his mother when he was just 12.
With financial aid from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, Woodward enrolled at Yale College to study English and history and graduated in 1965. Woodward started his five-year term of duty in the US Navy after graduating from Yale. Woodward served with the Navy and was one of two officers tasked with handling the nuclear launch codes that the USS Wright carried. Once he was discharged of his duties as a lieutenant, he applied to Harvard in which he was selected but nevertheless joined Washington DC as a reporter after gaining some experience in a weekly newspaper, Montgomery Sentinel.
Taliesin Woodward’s Career
Taliesin Woodward has confessed a number of times that she had little to no interest in joining journalism as her father, although she liked writing in general. In 1994 she began her studies at University of California with the intent to go in the direction of book publishing. However, her inclination moved towards journalism after her summer internship in San Francisco Bay Guardian. Her inclination was developed due to the fact that she can have an opinion without any hesitation and bring some positive change in the society with her voice.
From February 1999 to May 2006, she served as a staff writer for a free alternative newspaper. Tali covers a wide range of subjects in her writing, such as regional politics, healthcare, the media, and education. She also authored investigative pieces and features similar to those in magazines. In 2007, she graduated with a Master’s from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. After which she was into freelancing and wrote for various publications including National Geographic. For more than nine years, she led Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism as a director, the same institute from where she completed her master’s.
Taliesin Woodward’s Personal Life
In 2008 Taliesin Woodward married a senior editor of Slate Magazine, Gabriel Roth. She has two children with him and the family resides in Brooklyn, New York.
