Here’s How You Know It’s Time To Change Your Windows In Australia

Here’s How You Know It’s Time To Change Your Windows In Australia

If you are still somewhat on the fence when it comes to having to replace your windows, you may have come to the right place. It is an expensive proposition to rip out the old windows that have been in your property for a number of decades to replace them with brand-new ones. There are so many different frames to choose from, locking mechanisms, different materials and designs. It can be a little bit of a minefield if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.

If you are dragging your feet because you don’t know if it’s time to replace everything, you should have a look at your window springs to see if they are still functional and if they do what they are supposed to do. If you find that this is not the case, it might be time to look at some other signs that it’s time for a change. The following are some of those very signs, which should encourage you to invest in new windows for your property.

  • You know how old they are – If you have been living in the property since you were a kid, and this is a property that your parents have left to you, it’s pretty obvious that the windows are beyond their usefulness. If the windows are over two decades old, it’s time for replacements. You may not be aware of it, but window technology has come on leaps and bounds over the past number of years. The glass inside your older windows is not energy efficient, and if anything, it is actually costing you money in higher utility bills.
  • They are difficult to open & close – If you have to put in a great deal of energy into opening and closing your windows, this is a pretty good sign that it’s time to change them out. Check the springs to see if they are covered in dust, if rust is settling in, and if they have become swollen over the years. If you still have the older type wooden windows in your property, they will have warped over time, letting in cold air and letting out warm air from inside.
  • You no longer have privacy – This is in relation to the amount of sound that travels into your property from the nearby roads, or just from people walking past your house. Modern windows are perfect for keeping out unwanted sounds, particularly if you live beside the local school or a business complex. If you can’t hear the television, if you can’t conduct a conversation without having to ask someone to repeat themselves, it’s highly likely that your windows have seen better days, and it’s time for a much-needed

Take the time to look at the windows around your property today, to see what kind of shape they are in. If you can clearly see that they are broken, wearing away, or warped in shape, make a decision and invest in new windows for your property today.
